Cody Hoyt has been creating fascinating work that blends ceramics, sculpture, painting and illustration into one medium, a hybrid that keeps evolving with every show. Full Time, Non-Primitive is the new solo exhibition of hand-built ceramic works by the Brooklyn-based artist, his 5th solo show at Patrick Parrish in NYC.

From the gallery: Patrick Parrish Gallery is pleased to present Full Time, Non-Primitive, a solo exhibition of hand-built ceramic works by Brooklyn-based artist Cody Hoyt. With the square grid as their starting point, Hoyt’s newest works focus on simple abstraction of surface patterns. Form becomes rather secondary to the complexity and idiosyncrasy accomplished with Hoyt’s intricate technique of pigmented, cut and inlayed clay. For this exhibition, Hoyt chose to make primarily flat works – wall installations, tables, and simple vessels consisting entirely of flat surfaces. By freeing up the edges, “the pattern nods at infinity. It goes in all directions,“ writes Hoyt.

Full Time, Non-Primitive will be Cody Hoyt’s 5th solo exhibition with the gallery.
