One of the original kings of pinup art, Joaquin Alberto Vargas was famously quoted saying, "Show me something more beautiful than a beautiful girl, and then I'll go paint it."

Originally from Peru, Vargas graced the pages of Esquire magazine from 1940 until 1947. His flawless watercolor and airbrushed Varga Girls adorned aircrafts, ships, and even uniform jackets of the US servicemen during the World War II era. Numerous Vargas paintings have sold and continue to sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
