We found out earlier today that Namio Harukawa, the famed Japanese artist known for his graphic "Femdom" artwork and graphic scenes of facesitting and erotic asphyxiation, has died at the age of 72. Born in Osaka, Japan in 1947, artist Namio Harukawa specializd in depicting voluptuous, dominating women who overwhelm small, frail men with their overflowing flesh and power. As we wrote in 2012, "Harukawa's eye-catching style and explicit subject matter have earned him a devoted international cult following."

Harukawa's work was last seen in Tokyo Pop Underground, a fantastic exhibition curated by Nanzuka Underground gallerist Shinji Nanzuka, which was on view at Jeffrey Deitch Gallery in NYC and Los Angeles in 2019 and 2020.
