Taken between 1880 and 1890 at Wormwood Scrubs prison in West London, these unusual mugshots use a mirror to show both the full face and side profile in one shot. The prisoners were also instructed to show their hands so that any other distinguishing features could be documented. We've always been intrigued by vintage mugshots. The purely practical nature of the photographs often revealed something more profound and natural than a staged artistic photo in a studio could.
