You’re invited to dig into Pies, Pies, Pies, tomorrow, Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 2pm PST, and maybe some ice cream and cake, this being the 100th birthday of Wayne Thiebaud. While host Crocker Museum is currently unable to open its doors for the commemorative  retrospective, it is celebrating with an intimate Zoom discussion moderated by Chief Curator Scott Shields. Joining the artist’s daughter Twinka Thiebaud will be painter Hearne Pardee and art historian Julia Friedman, in a conversation about a painter who was as beloved as he is revered, whose formal geometric compositions, the words of Scott Shields, evoke a yearning. With stress and uncertainty buzzing overhead, we are learning to appreciate the stillness and perfection of what resides before and within us.
