EMBEDDED OPTIMISM: A solo exhibition by Alexandra Levasseur @ Mirus Gallery, San Francisco
Mirus Gallery is pleased to present EMBEDDED OPTIMISM, a solo exhibition by artist Alexandra Levasseur. EMBEDDED OPTIMISM aims to play in the unification of ceramics and paintings to tell stories of nature as well as the mythological. EMBEDDED OPTIMISM opens July 29th, with a VIP/Press Opening 6-7 PM then opening reception from 7-10 pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public for viewing through September 30th.
In today’s era, defined by an overwhelming chaos and anxiety caused by the rapid changes in society and climate, Levasseur imagines peaceful and timeless places where human beings and nature elements are on the same hierarchical level. She deeply believes in biophilic behaviors as a way to achieve psychological well-being. Thus, in this exhibition entitled EMBEDDED OPTIMISM, her mixed media paintings feature subjects embedded into their environment, emotionally connected to the landscape. In addition, the marriage of fired clay to other painting materials helps further explore feelings of freedom and abandonment. This exhibition entitled EMBEDDED OPTIMISM presents works that combine painting, drawing and ceramics on wood panels.
