Today, we dedicate A Portfolio to the works of San Antonio-born painter, RF. Alvarez, who creates some of the most moody, cinematic and personal paintings we have seen in quite some time. With a solo show at Taymour Grahne Projects, London later this summer and being part of a group show online with Almine Rech, this looks to be a big year for the young painter.

San Antonio born artist RF. Alvarez lives and works in Austin, Texas. His large-scale, richly colored figurative paintings respond to his experience as a queer man of both Mexican heritage and Texan cowboy lineage. He presents visions of queer resilience, using his sense of light, shadow, and color to produce intimate portraits of impermanence, indulgence, and belonging.
