Our friends at Pavement Licker over in the UK recently conceived and curated another exciting project in an effort to raise money for a good cause. This time they used their network to connect world-renowned musicians and artist and create a series of original works which will be exhibited and sold for charity through an online auction.

Joining the two inseparable forms of art, Pressing Matters is a unique exhibition and fundraising auction through which leading contemporary artists created unique pieces using the rare test pressings and vinyl donated by the biggest names in the music industry as a blank canvas. With such iconic names as Sonic Youth, Coldplay, Yungblud, James Blake, the Rolling Stones, Prodigy, Depeche Mode, Nile Rodgers, Tricky, etc, alongside the likes of David Shrigley, Gavin Turk, Jean Jullien, James Joyce, Jamie Reid, Paul Insect, Ralph Steadman, Vhils, Shepard Fairey, etc, this is a unique project with a stellar lineup that will likely go down in history books. Taking place at the time when humanity is starting to get a glimpse of the light at the end of a long Covid-19 tunnel, this idea feels like a step forward towards a better, more caring reality. And as the examples shared in this feature are showing, it's not only the names that are exceptional about this undertaking!

Brought to you by Helium London and MATCHESFASHION, Pressing Matters is set up to raise money for MusicSupport.org, a charity helping anyone in the music industry with mental health and addiction issues. The project will kick off with an actual show at Matches’ townhouse in Mayfair, London between May 4th and 29th May, and all the works will be offered for sale via auction on Heliumlondon.com. The organizers are also pointing out that all the money raised goes straight to MusicSupport.org with "none of that 'after costs' stuff." —Sasha Bogojev
