I read a quote from Lucian Freud once that said "My object in painting pictures is to try and move the senses by giving an intensification of reality." I've always liked that, and in the case of figurative paintings, it feels like a place to always start. Intesify the senses, reality, the subject.

La Luz De Jesus Gallery is pleased to present ONWARD 2.0, a group exhibition that examines the many facets of portrait painting. In ONWARD, each artist’s specific painting technique magnifies the subject through historical context, color, gesture, and application. The result is an abundant range of compositions from the traditional to the absurd, and in most cases, a combination of the two.
