It's that time again. After Juxtapoz editor Evan Pricco juried Surreal Salon 17, our friends at Baton Rouge Gallery – center for contemporary art is proud to announce it is now accepting submissions for Surreal Salon 18, the juried exhibition celebrating pop-surrealist and lowbrow art. Artists worldwide over the age of 18 are invited to submit works for consideration by Special Guest Juror, Swoon (also known as Caledonia Curry). Artists selected for inclusion in the exhibition will be in the running for more than $2,000 in cash prizes as well as an online editorial feature with Juxtapoz.
This exhibition will be on view January 2 – 25, 2026 at BRG, located inside Baton Rouge’s City-Brooks Community Park. During the show’s run, it will be open to the public, free of charge, during normal gallery hours (Tuesday-Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.).
Artists interested in being a part of this unique and exciting exhibition can find more information at batonrougegallery.org/surreal-salon. Artists working in all media are encouraged to submit up to three (3) works for the juror’s consideration. The deadline for submissions is November 8, 2025.
Now entering its 18th year, Surreal Salon is aimed at engaging audiences in an art experience like no other in the region by highlighting the growing popularity and exceptional quality of the pop-surrealist/lowbrow movement. Submissions will be reviewed via a blind jurying process that will ensure that works are selected based solely on their artistic merit (the juror does not see an artist’s name until after selections for the exhibition have been made).
Baton Rouge Gallery would like to thank those sponsoring Surreal Salon 17: Lynne Pisto, John G. Turner & Jerry G. Fischer, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, as well as its longtime partner in presenting Surreal Salon, Louisiana State University’s School of Art.
