Last month, Juxtapoz Projects welcomed artists Kendra Yee and Ruohan Wang to the new residency program at Superchief NYC. On July 3rd, we opened our doors to show local friends and fans what the artists had been up to for the June 2019 program. In addition, we unveiled the collaborative mural, generously sponsored by our friends at Liquitex.
Originally from Toronto, Kendra Yee worked on a series of ceramics and vases, translating her ideas from pen and ink drawings into fired clay. Berlin-based Ruohan Wang spent the residency working on larger canvas works with airbrush, creating a contemporary diptych with two soldier-esque figures atop a horse. The two worked side by side, exchanging ideas, socializing in Brooklyn’s vibrant art scene and experimenting in their respective practices and the styles. The result was an impressive display of creative dedication and artistic confluence.
