From the verdant northwest region of Asturias, known as Green Spain, Edgar Plans spoke to us in early April for Art in Uncertain Times. "These days I can't go to the workshop. Everything has changed in my work process. I work at night while my two-year-old daughter is sleeping, and I never worked at night. I like to work with natural light in my workshop."

Such a shift in practice, of course, was necessitated by various measures put in place all over. In Plans’ case, that meant suspension of works on canvas because of closed studios, and  postponed international fairs and gallery shows. "At home, my family only lets me draw because I am a very dirty painter," he laughs, but admits pleasure with the outcome of his new, forced practice because, "These days I am making a series of 18 x 18cm drawings, a series that I collect under the title Notes of My Confinement."

Working every night with graphite and colored pencils, Plans is excited now to be back in his workshop and its creative routine, as seen on his recent Instagram posts. When we first talked, he admitted,"I can't help but want to go to my workshop and work on large canvases.” We're happy to see him back in a big way.
