A few weeks ago, as we were visiting Paris for numerous Juxtapoz projects, we of course, like everyone who visits Paris, walked past the Notre Dame cathedral. Just like everyone else, with a structure that has existed since the year 1260, you at times take it for granted that these architectural piece of art will just always be ... there. We took a photo of an iconic Space Invader tile from the Left Bank looking toward the Cathedral, and walked our way toward our assignment.

We are so saddened about hearing about the fire today, not only because it its truly an icon of Paris, a city we love, but the actual work of art the Cathedral really is, a monument of architecture genius, the visual history Notre Dame represetns and historic stone walls that have stood for almost one thousand years. Our thoughts go out to the residents of Paris that are watching an icon burn at the moment, and to a piece of history and priceless art being lost that can't be replaced.
