It's been fun following all the rumors and maybes surrounding Banksy's new NYC street pieces after he completed the iconic Houston-Bowery Wall. That mural, was a major political statement highlighting the imprisonment of Turkish artist, Zehra Dogan, who in March 2017 was sentenced by a court in Turkey to two years and nine months in prison for merely painting a picture. We wrote about this piece last week. And posted about this one on our Instagram, too.
But of course, the British artist likes to get a few illegal pieces in as well whilst traveling, and the artist seems to have been spotted in a few different places around NYC. Well, we can now confirm the stencil piece in an empty lot on Coney Island Avenue featuring a Trump-like businessman stock-lashing a group of residents off his land in a Kara Walker-esque style, is indeed a Banksy. The artist confirmed on his Instagram today. Brooklyn Street Art also took a photo of another work that looks like the artist's iconic style, but hasn't been confirmed yet. Check the gallery, as we have a few shots of Banksy works from around NYC.
This is fun. Do more, Banksy.
