Park Life is excited to announce a new exhibition of work from Bay Area artist Jason Jägel. This is Jason’s first show with Park Life.

This show represents the intimacy of publicly opening my studio flat files. Most of the work is brand new from the past year.  Others are works that were in various states of completion, in my flat files for who knows how long, that I now felt had potential to be reworked or transformed.

The past year I often felt lost and low. During tough times, my lifeline was making these drawings and paintings. The low points eventually became ground to build on, ushering in a renewed, clarified identity.

Drawing and painting is my oldest and most constant friend. Drawing and painting is like a second self. It is a space to practice commitment, that invites me to both strive and to fear, to fail and persist. I’m here experiencing color and pattern and people, looking for the unexpected and a sense of a story I can project myself into. —Jason Jägel
