Melbourne-based photographer Jessica Tremp's series 'Over unto Silence' explores that deep emotionally sick stomach feling. She says the series "could be death by foot in mouth disease if you will or doomsday anxiety." Tremp tries to use organic, spontaneous natural lighting in her photographs and will often use herself as a model.

The sleeping pair of fox-headed nude figures is just one of Melbourne-based artist Sam Jinks' many realistic sculptural works. Presented at Art Stage Singapore 2013, the piece, Unsettled Dogs, is crafted from silicone, pigment, resin and hair and are about one-quarter life size.

Even though Melbourne-based artist Jessica Stewart hasn't updated her site in a year, we can't get over how fragile and intricate these drawings are. Haunting, almost in a Victorian style, Stewart's pencil works remind us of another great, Marco Mazzoni. Perhaps they are pen pals?

JKB Fletcher is a working artist from the UK, living in Melbourne, Australia. "My hopes are for Australia to provide a new cultural influence to my work and a maturity only developed through experience. My paintings address questions of whether photorealism or hyperrealism is anything more than a photograph with oil based paint. Using ‘reality’ and sensuality, Surface, texture, contrast and form to provoke thoughts and sensations of physicality and beauty" he states.

Similar to the evasive plant Kudzu here in America, the Australian willow tree has become a nuisance and problem for other vegetation, even affecting the habitat of fish and local wildlife. Dougherty recognizes the over abundance of the willow tree saplings and sticks utilizing them for this outdoor sculpture in part of his “Stickwork” series.

We had the pleasure of attending the opening reception of Jeremy Geddes, at the Jonathan Levine Gallery. Exhale is the name of a series of 17 hyperreal paintings that capture surreal instants, created with incredibly accurate detail and laborious work. His characters seem to appear in the precise juncture of a fragmented moment and space “...generating a tension between man-made environments in flux and the fragility of living bodies.”

Earlier this month, Mark Whalen (maybe you know him as Kill Pixie) had a grouping of new works on display with Edwina Corlette Gallery at the Melbourne Art Fair. We have done a lot with Mr Whalen over the past year (videos, studio visits, magazine features) but we think this is the first time we have seen basketballs in his work. We could be mistaken, but we think not.

Eugene Plotnikov is 18 and lives in Melbourne, Australia. He is currently studying Communication Design at RMIT. Eugene would describe his work as a dark, twisted reflection of self, each individual piece mirroring a part of himself.

We became fast friends with Melbourne's graffiti provocateur LUSH last year when he came to San Francisco for an exhibition at FIFTY24SF Gallery, and turned the gallery into strip show. All the things you hear about LUSH is that he pisses a ton of people off, and that he does so for some sort of Internet fame. Well, what's wrong with that? It's 2012, how else do you get famous?
