After taking a bit of a break from painting big walls and focusing mostly on his studio practice and exploring ancient printing techniques, Phlegm recently released the details of his big upcoming project he has been working on in secrecy. Mausoleum of the Giants will be a monumental sculptural show by the British artists, set in an abandoned industrial complex in Sheffield, UK, where he grew up and started off his prolific artistic career.

Five years after his 1st and only exhibition to date, the distinctive artist announced he will be presenting an unprecedented showcase featuring never before seen giant-scale sculptures of his iconic characters. Placed inside the halls, corridors, and rooms of an abandoned factory, they will connect the way his illustration-based murals are interacting with the existing architectural structures. Only this time, the sculptures will enwrap inside and around the spaces, as a result of Phlegm’s ongoing efforts to intertwine his highly imaginative work with existing deteriorating structures.

On view from 15th of March until 6th April, Mausoleum of the Giants will be built as the final resting place for these friendly beasts that have been following his human characters around the world. Designed as incredible, mythological creatures bigger than life, the idea of such immersive installation is to pay tribute to now fallen life of former industrial center point of the region, but also, show it in a bit different perspective when juxtaposed with these ancient-like creatures. —Sasha Bogojev

The exact venue location is currently being kept under wraps and will be revealed on the week commencing 11th March 2019 via mausoleumofthegiants.co.uk
