B.east Gallery is proud to present Lost & Found, a solo exhibition from renowned Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic. Juxtaposing memory and experience, Lost & Found invites attendees on a reflective journey of rediscovery, exploring the innocence of childhood against the complexities of our changing urban landscapes. The Dadaists were the first to suggest the importance of play as a fundamental expression of human nature, challenging conventional notions of creation by elevating reclaimed objects to the realm of "serious" art. In Zacharevic’s signature style, this collection contemplates play both as a subject and a creative process, showcasing 10 years of previously unseen works on found materials alongside new original canvases.

Exhibition highlights encompass the latest in an ongoing series of Art Historical subversions that cleverly reference classical and contemporary works. In homage to the city’s unique cultural heritage, anticipate nods to the Grotesque revival, a historical movement that thrived in Florence under the patronage of Grand Duke Francesco I de’ Medici. Notably, the event will feature an exclusive print release in collaboration with the legendary photographer Martha Cooper, a long-time friend and collaborator who will be present at the event.

Ernest Zacharevic is celebrated for his unique blend of fine art techniques with raw street art aesthetics, fusing tradition and innovation in surprising ways. While these works exude playfulness, they satirically confront complex societal themes, challenging our perspectives on media, consumerism, environmentalism, and politics. With his original pieces held in public institutions, private collections, and murals spanning 20 countries, it’s only fitting that this latest series finds its home in a city renowned for its rich storytelling tradition through Frescos.

Lost & Found opens at B.east Gallery in Florence, Italy with the private view on the evening of 28th September, open through until 20th December 2023.
