It's been too long since we last caught up with Daan Botlek and his ingenious street interventions and mural concepts, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been busy. On the contrary, the artist we featured in April 2017 has been traveling around Asia, leaving his fresh and recognizable mark along the way.

Back in February, he once again took part in St+Art India for their Delhi event, where he participated in a group exhibition at Kona and created a series of public paintings in Lodhi Colony, with both visits including at least one large piece and many smaller works scattered around local businesses, shutters, and common places.

Continuously reinventing his simple humanoid and its interactions with other characters and architectural elements, Botlek's two main pieces were new zoetrope-like sequences, the biggest painted in Lodhi where a big outdoor gallery of murals has been propagating since 2014. More than 50 murals have been realized on duplicated apartment blocks, resulting in a unique collection of public art done in uniform size and format – a "concrete canvas". Later, the artist visited Goa, where he collaborated with a local brewing company using visuals of similar style, then wrapped up the journey by leaving his imprint in Seoul, Korea during a short stay.––Sasha Bogojev
