Music Video: St Vincent "Digital Witness" dir by Chino Moya

Music // Friday, February 07, 2014
St. Vincent is a very likeable musician whose real name is Annie Clark and has been making good tunes over the past 8 years or so. Her newest LP, a self-titled release, will be out on February 25 in the US via Loma Vista, and Chino Moya directed the video for the first single, "Digital Witness." It sort of goes on Brave New World vibe, or as the press release states, St. Vincent commands "a surreal and futuristic world in which action is synchronized, replicated and repeated."

Glasser's "Interiors" x Jonathan Turner

Music // Monday, January 27, 2014
For Glasser's 2013 album "Interiors," the artist enlisted New York-based visual artist Jonathan Turner to design the album artwork and direct the music videos. A chrome, silver-like essence flows through both videos and is the most striking visual element of the album artwork. Fluidity is another major theme...

MF Doom: Clarks, Working with ESPO, Rings... Man is Busy

Music // Saturday, January 25, 2014
MF Doom is all over the creative map at the moment, and not all of it has to do with music. First, he designed his own signature pair of Clarks Originals Wallabees. Then, he released his own custom rings designed by Han Cholo for Nature Sounds. And, after he had ESPO direct the music video for the JJ Doom track, "Bookhead," it looks like ESPO contributed some graphics to a limited edition Bookhead EP picture disc. We want everything we just mentioned...

Juxtapoz Presents: Silas Hite - Music and Art

Music // Wednesday, January 22, 2014
"When the music in me slows down, I pick up a pen and draw. When the ink begins to flow less easily, I trade the pen for an instrument and resume where I left off with a renewed sense of purpose. It’s a symbiotic relationship between art and music. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to tap into it and spend my days creating."

Music Video: King Krule "A Lizard State"

Music // Wednesday, January 08, 2014
One of the Juxtapoz offices favorite album of 2013 was King Krule's brilliant 6 Feet Beneath the Moon from XL Recordings. Not only does the 19-year old singer/songwriter have one of the most unexpected voices in contemporary music, but his songs are like mini cinematic escapes, a unique brand of storytelling. Director Jamie-James Medina takes this quality to heart and transforms Krule's jazzy "A Lizard State" into a Hitchcock showcase.

Best of 2013: Beach House "Wishes" dir by Eric Wareheim

Music // Monday, December 16, 2013
Even though their stellar album, "Devotion," was released in 2012, Beach House and director Eric Wareheim created one of the great music videos of 2013 for the track "Wishes." Yes, that Eric. As in Tim & Eric. So you know the video was going to be slightly twisted, funny, and good. And it features Leland Palmer from Twin Peaks riding a horse with fireworks. Well then...

Piracy: Using CDs to Make a Portrait

Music // Wednesday, December 11, 2013
It has been a question that has dogged the Western world for nearly 13 years: what do we do with CDs? Look, we love Catch A Fire as much as the next gal/guy, but really, you can love that no matter what medium. Mirco Pagano and Moreno De Turco have taken the CDs of famous rock icons and made a portrait out of them. Of that particular icon to be exact.
