Khalil Joseph directed two of our favorite music videos (we should probably call them short films) from the last couple of years, Flying Lotus' "Until the Quiet Comes" and Shabaaz Palaces' "Black Up." Back in 2010 Khalil also joined forces with the renowned Brazilian singer and actor Seu Jorge (City of God, The Life Aquatic) to create a two-part film inspired by Jorge's self-titled Seu Jorge and Almaz album.

Let's get Escher. Metronomy is a band that understands how to make a good music video, a memorable one, one with a little extra touch of artistic detail in every video. For their new single, Month of Sundays, the band had director Callum Cooper create a visual look. The director told Nowness, "When I heard the track, the stark harmonies brought to mind the Russian children’s choirs of the 1970s."

Grimes looks to be getting ready to release a new album, and after her 2012 critically acclaimed LP "Visions," we are going to call the new LP something that is generating quite a bit of excitement. For our purposes, we know Grimes likes to draw, does her own album covers, and has art-directed some of her videos. Grimes and her brother just directed a video for her new track, "Go," and its like living in the desert in the year 4000AD with slip-on adidas sandals. And the song is really good, too.

One of the absolute best albums of the year in the rock category would be The War On Drugs' "Lost In the Dream." The opening track, "Under the Pressure," now has a music video directed by Houmam. If you like hazy, long road trips, perhaps accompanied by a few mushrooms, then you will enjoy this.

We have a close Juxta-family connection with Action Bronson, and when we caught a look at his newest video for the track "Easy Rider," a video that pays homage to the 1969 Peter Fonda/Dennis Hopper film, we pretty became convinced that Action is having the most fun in the music industry at the moment. Directed by Tom Gould and coming off the upcoming LP, "Mr Wonderful," ... enjoy.

Arcade Fire have turned most of their support of their last LP, Reflektor, into an ongoing art project. Stage personas, TV specials, lots of masks, etc. Seems only appropriate then for their newest music video for 'You Already Know," the band can be seen shooting what appears to be a slightly higher budget selfie video with talking/singing paintings. We approve.

Flying Lotus is a huge favorite in the Juxtapoz office, and it seems like the Southern California-based musician has always emphaszied a great deal on his companion artwork for all the music he makes. OnOctober 6/7, Warp Records will release "You're Dead!", the new LP from Flying Lotus featuring Herbie Hancock, Kendrick Lamar, Captain Murphy, Snoop Dogg, Angel Deradoorian, Thundercat, Niki Randa and more. FlyLo previews the album with a psychedelic journey, a "shamanic pilgrimage into the psychedelic unknown of the infinite afterlife." As he notes, "The album isn’t about the end, it’s really the beginning...". Let's get there.

As you know, we are once again heading to the Outside Lands Music and Art Festival in SF this weekend (August 8-10, 2014), and while most people are getting ready for Kanye, Arctic Monkeys, Tom Petty, Lykke Li, Death Cab, or The Flaming Lips, there are a few bands of note playing in the afternoons that we are the most excited about. Woods would be one of those bands. They have always kept the DIY aesthetic true to their hearts, and we love their new video for "New Light" animated by John Andrews. Go see them on Sunday, August 10 at 1:10pm on the Sutro Stage. And get their new LP, With Light And With Love.
