In the next few months, Juxtapoz is going to be looking into the visual art behind one of underground hip-hop/jazz/music's true innovators, Madlib. If you are a fan, you know that the Beat Konducta has many monikers and identities, characters that he lets take centerstage over his own look. Madlib has long been associated with Stones Throw Records, and the label is the subject of a great new documentary, "Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton: This is Stones Throw Records," that you can watch, buy, and stream online right now. See it, and get ready for some upcoming Juxtapoz coverage...

The best part about the vegetable orchestra is that after the concert is over you can cook and eat the instruments. Pointless? Weird? Genius? All of the above? We're not sure. But we did enjoy this video of an orchestra playing instruments made from vegetables on our day back at work after a long weekend. It looks like fun...

We saw this amazing video for Flying Lotus' track "Phantasm" from the album "Until the Quiet Comes," and was just reminded about how incredible it was when we saw it reposted on ItsNiceThat. Director Markus Hofko filmed this surreal adventure over two days on Desert Rd, on the North Island of New Zealand. He notes about the production: "2 characters and me behind the camera was all there was. Nice and simple. And complicated." Enjoy.

A few weeks ago, we found an album cover for a Prefuse 73 record that blew our minds, but we couldn't find who the artist was. We just found out that Australian artist Dan McPharlin, who has an eye and hand for some incredible science fiction and surreal landscape works, is the man behind many great album covers.

Dub-electro trio Major Lazer (Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Jillionaire) along with Pharrell dropped their single "Aerosol Can" earlier this year. For the video, long-time Mad Decent creative contributor Kyle DePinna directs an animated timelapse of none other than Mike Giant as he writes out the lyrics on white walls in marker. Interesting.

Leif Podhajsky has been one of our favorite art directors and artists for music album covers in recent years, having worked with Foals, Lykke Li, Tame Impala, Grimes, Mount Kimble, and Youth Lagoon amongst others. Leif does the new wave psychedelia very well, combining photography and collage in a way that seems both futuristic and vintage. Leif just did the packaging and cover design for Kelis' new LP, "Food," and the accompanying singles.
