El Mac continues to be one of the great and most unique muralists of his time, one that is based on tradition but also a progressive and unique style. We have been covering Mac for years, both as a fine artist, muralists, and champion of public art around the world. Recently, Mac painted this massive mural in Boston, which was titled Ars et Scientia.

Ryan De La Hoz “Impassable Terrain” @ FFDG, SF

FFDG is pleased to present San Francisco-based artist Ryan De La Hoz (who has been featured by Juxtapoz in both our print and online editions) in his first solo show with the gallery entitled “Impassible Terrain” including cut paper works, textiles, puzzles, drawings, works on canvas, and a watercolor painting on wood. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, May 29 (6-9pm).

Thanks to the Internet, photographers Johann Bouché-Pillon and Gabi Pérez stumbled upon each other’s work, making it possible to meet via e-mail and exchange ideas. The two created a very simple collaboration where they paired already-made photographs into diptychs that mirrored well together. These mostly consisting of color coordination and shapes. 

KISS book by Maggie West + book release at Ace Hotel, Los Angeles

KISS is the debut art book from Los Angeles-based photographer Maggie West. The book features 20 pairs of people kissing each other under colorful, surreal lighting. KISS takes a unique, abstract approach to a subject that has depicted throughout centuries of art. By placing a universal activity in such a dreamlike setting, the book causes readers to reexamine the energy and intimacy taking place with each embrace.

We like Todd James. He has been on the cover of Juxtapoz twice now, and continues to make fantastic works. We like Barry McGee, too. He too, has been a cover artist and continues to be one of the most recongnizable and successful artists to balance graffiti energy and fine art aesthetics into one beautiful mix. They are both showing new works in FUD, opening at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen this weekend. It is McGee and James' second double exhibition at the space.

Spoon, who we have featured in the magazine in the past as well as enjoyed their newest album, They Want My Soul, countless times in our office over the past 10 month or so. Hey, we are heading to see their show in Oakland, California tonight (May 29). The band has finally released an "official video" for the brilliant track "Inside Out," directed by LeBlanc + Cudmore. Imagine a slow-burner of casual fights, girl groups, and a diner. It's all here.

Ricardo Cavolo is a young Spanish artist and illustrator getting an amazing international impact nowadays. Worker and prolific, his paintings flood murals, album covers, posters, books, clothes and every conceivable surface. His art is clear and distinctive with vibrant colours, rosy characters and the omnipresent eyes of fire. His hand made illustrations have now faced one of the most classic tarots, the Tarot ofMarseille, getting a superb modern and personal one called Tarot del Fuego.
