As if being in jail and being watched every moment was not enough, artist JR has made sure that the almighty eye will be watching over you. Invited to install work at Rikers Island in New York, JR took photographs of inmate’s eyes and pasted them in three different locations around the complex. The artist spoke on this project saying, “We just pasted the eye of another Inmate on the 2 South Building of the Rikers Island Jail in New York City. He wanted me to choose his eye looking left as life in jail is all about watching your back... He came out in the jail Yard when we were pasting. He's 18years old, it's his second time in Jail. Even if no one will recognize his eye he knows he's part of a bigger picture.”
