In his series “Through a Glass Darkly,” London-based photographer Nick Turpin captured images of London bus passengers during their nighttime commutes. Turpin explains that the work was created, “In the winter months were made at night from a raised platform with a long lens hand held at 1/40th second, on the limits of what modern camera sensors can record”. By using the window condensation caused by the cold outdoor weather paired with the darkness of night, Turpin creates romanticized vignettes of each subject who he seems to catch in a pensive moment between bus stops.
