\r\n\tJackie Nickerson<\/a> began photographing Zimbabwean farm workers in 1996 as a way to change the perception that those who work in African agriculture are disempowered, unmodern people. The resulting series, Farm, focused on the unique and beautiful clothing the workers made for themselves, and by doing so highlighted the worker’s identity, individuality, and ultimately their modernism. <\/span>For her most recent series, TERRAIN, Nickerson turns her attention to the roles in which workers play in the production and commodification of agricultural goods. TERRAIN focuses on the synergy between cultivation, workers and the environment, employing a reduced artistic language to draw attention to important debates around crop specialization, subsistence farming and food security.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\tUntil June 29th, 2014 a collection of photographs taken by pop culture icon Andy Warhol will be on display at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum<\/a> in Providence, RI. The exhibition is comprised of more than 150 polaroids and black and white prints taken by Warhol. He used these polaroids mainly as models for his famous brightly colored silkscreen portraits of the rich and famous, including Maria Shriver, John Lennon, and Pia Zadora. The included black and white prints document Warhol’s social life outside of his artistic studio practice. <\/p>\r\n

Anders Petersen was born in Sweden, 1944. He published his first photographic book in 1973; through four decades of artistic photographic practice he has remained extremely active and relevant within the art world, through his contrast-laden and gritty images. Peterson symbolizes, for me, the essence of photography: he has travelled to cities on nearly every continent and done various themes through the years but all the projects are truly definitive of how Peterson sees reality. No matter the location he finds ways to produce eerie voyeuristic images, which are more definitive of Peterson\u2019s personal existence than any location within the image. Although it would seem to get redundant after forty years Peterson manages to discover new compositions and realities through the same probing style, he is the essence of one who explores the world with his camera: equal parts Daido Moriyama, Lee Friedlander, and Bruce Gilden this prolific photographer belongs in the pantheon with all the other greats of photographic history. <\/p>\r\n

Anders Petersen was born in Sweden, 1944. Due to the success of the show, the displayed photographs were then used to create a photobook of the 94 images published by Daylight Books<\/a> and 100% of the royalties will be donated to Occupy Sandy to support rebuilding efforts in the New York City area and Sandy Storyline. The feature discussed not only the suicides of military persons, but family members who committed suicide as a result of the death of a related military member. The project is divided into four parts, \u201cThe Spouse\u201d, \u201cThe Parents\u201d, \u201cThe Teenager\u201d, and \u201cThe Sibling\u201d. Clark photographed specifically for \u201cThe Parents\u201d, where she spent two full days with the Koch family who lost their son in Afghanistan is 2008. Two years after their son\u2019s death, their grief stricken daughter committed suicide. The resulting images show a couple just trying to survive everyday life without being overcome by the overwhelming sorrow that has infested their lives. Small memorials to both of their deceased children seem to be scattered throughout the house showing just how difficult is has been to live with what has happened. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

In November of 2013, photographer Annabel Clark was hired for an assignment by CNN Digital. The multimedia feature, titled \u201cThe Uncounted\u201d, explored the effect of military suicides. No longer able to hold a camera, she instructs her aides to take photos for her. Back in 1980, Tom Snyder interviewed Fox about her photography work right as she begun using a cane to walk and was loosing some of her eyesight. It\u2019s fascinating to see how her illnesses has affected her physically, but has not diminished her creative spirit in any way.
