Sherry’s approach to the medium challenges categorical ideologies and the question of photographic truth. It could be argued that no photograph can be completely detached or objective, but the distinction concerning a photographer’s intent seems to divide directives: aesthetic or objective. With this collection of “truthful” images, presented in exaggerated colors, the artist marries opposing categorizations, or the division implied therein. Wonderful Land reminds us, through photography, of the inherent value that exists in any natural resource – what it offers, what it represents, and ultimately, its ability to connect us to a broader experience. This series entitled Artek<\/em>, is a beautifully composed and edited collection of images, looking like a modern day lookbook but is the exact opposite in every sense. Exceptionally intimate and candid, these attributes can be acredited to Doury's process of always wanting to be close with the people she works with. Since Artek<\/em> Doury has gone on to publish 3 other monographs and has been won several awards including the Leica Oscar Barnack.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\tUntil June 20, Nad Yaqub<\/a> is working to fund the publication of a photobook titled “Havana Life”. The project, which is hoping to be funded through a Kickstarter<\/a> campaign, documents Cuba’s capital city of Havana and it’s vibrant culture through photography. With a mix of both color and black and white images, Yaqub works to immerse the viewer in Havana life. Not only does the book function as a visual guide but also as a referential source for distinctive Cuban elements with written sections about Havana’s currency, food, and architecture. <\/p>\r\n
