Works by Andy Denzler

September 20, 2012

Andy Denzler has taken the long since dead medium of video tape and injected it with a shot of creativity and imagination. Heavily influenced by Andy Warhol's screen tests of the 1960‘s and Julian Schnabel's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Hovering and shifting constantly between abstraction and figuration, his work reinterprets the way both painting and video can be brought together.

By taking freeze frames of old movies, he creates a static image that looks as if its in motion. This breakdown of tradition leads to a confrontation between painting and contemporary media.
