Tony Hawk @ Ride It Sculpture Park, Detroit

November 05, 2013

If you have followed Juxtapoz over the past 5 years, you know that we have been working closely with Power House Productions in Detroit to help build and sustain a creative-driven and influenced neighborhood in Detroit. We have worked with Swoon, Monica Canilao, RETNA, Ben Wolf, Richard Colman, Matthew Barney, Lance Mountain, Thrasher Magazine's Joe Brook, and the PHP team of Mitch Cope and Gina Reichart to keep more and more projects alive in the neighborhood where our 15th Anniversary benefit and auction helped fund the purchase of numerous homes.

Now, phase 2 is near completion. At the beginning of Fall, the Tony Hawk Foundation donated money to the Ride It Sculpture Park that was initially supported by Juxtapoz and Thrasher Magazine, and where we curated a special collaboration between fine artist Mathew Barney and skate legend Lance Mountain earlier this year. Hawk's contribution helped complete the park, and as you seen in our video above, came out to Detroit to ride and see the park in person.

Thank you to filmmakers Chris Rosik & Eric Carlsen. Also a big thank you to Joe Brook, Tony Hawk, Power House Productions, Steve Rinaldi, Rob Cousineau, and Miki Vuckovich.
