The Work of Caroline Achaintre

March 31, 2012

Caroline Achaintre approaches portraiture in a humorous and unconventional practice. Recreating strange and elaborate faces that verge on abstract shapes with basic geometric elements of eyes and a mouth  being the only recognizable figurative features at times. Using materials like ceramics and handtufted wool, Achaintre's works are colorful and outlandish, with pieces like "Moustache-Eagle" having an obvious air of humor and playfulness that makes us love the work that much more.
