In over 21 years of covering contemporary art, Juxtapoz has come to understand one crucial element of the creative process: the impulse to create can come at anytime. One of the things that we are often surprised to hear from creatives about their process, is the new tools they use to create. When technologies become available, we look to the artists to not only evolve, but show us new ways of mastering the creative landscape. That is why we are excited to moderate a special pannel at the Apple Store on West 14th Street in NYC on January 7 at 6pm, to discuss with 5 contemporary artists how they have not only found new ways to make art, but how they have excelled in producing work with new technology.

Apple recently launched the "Start Something New" program, highlighting artists around the world who have a particular mastery in their medium, and given them access to create a work or body of work with the platform they closely work with: an iPhone, the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil, as well as Macs and apps to finish the pieces. At first we were a little hesitant to participate in the moderation; only because we weren't sure how we would fit into the discussion. But the artist list featured many of our friends and colleagues, as well as artists we have admired from afar. Former print mag and Juxtapoz Wild book cover artist Tiffany Bozic was working with the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, photographer Darren Pearson with Apple Watch and iPhone 6s Plus, and Bernhard Lang's gorgeous aerial photography with the iPhone 6s Plus. Knowing these artists, we feel comfortable engaging with them in discussions about working with these new tools of the trade.

Take a look at the gallery above, where we have noted what each artist used to make their piece, and you can see their final results there. Take a look at Apple's new landing page documenting each process. And below is a description and details of our panel discussion at the Apple Store in Manhattan at the Meatpacking District location on West 14th. RSVP here.
