Tackyshack Light Painting
His name is Jeremy Jackson but some call him Tacky. Or Tackyshack. A resident of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, he makes kaleidoscopic light paintings.
Since 2008, he spends most of his time waving lights in front of his camera, shooting on 35mm film as well as digital. Tackyshack explains light painting like this, “The world is your canvas. Anything you can imagine can be painted a million different ways, time and space take on new meaning”. Inspired by Dr. Seuss, MC Escher, comic books, fractals, geometric designs, and patterns of all sorts as a kid, he explains his art as, “Light is the brush and the environment is the canvas.” Making his living from workshops on light painting, Tackyshack makes all his photos freely available for download because he believes that the art itself should be free to the public.
