Friday's T.Sq Newsstand guest clerk will be artist and the "Queen of Times Square," Jane Dickson. Diskson's subjects have often included Times Square where she lived and worked for 30 years. In addition to her drawings and paintings, Dickson organized "Messages to the Public," a Public Art Fund series which presented montly artis's projects for Spectacolor's 1 Times Square Billboard. The project ran from 1982 through 1990 and included work by Keith Haring and Jenny Holzer.
If you've taken the NYC Subway to 42nd Street or Times Square anytime in the past seven years then you have walked past Dickson's most recent contribution. In 2008, the MTA comissioned her to design and install 67 mosaics composed of Murano glass!
