My intention was to paint little impressions of my favorite works at The Prado Museum but that lasted for about two pages of the book and then I started doing these portraits.

"We were wandering around Madrid this past fall and stumbled into this cool little art store near the center of town. I found this perfect little watercolor set in a little metal travel case and a small 3”x5" watercolor book. I haven't done watercolor, maybe ever, but they were so damn cute! I work on them all the time now, or at least whenever I'm out of the studio." —Christian Rex van Minnen
