On September 16th, 2017, Juxtapoz Magazine celebrated the grand opening of the Urban Nation Museum in Berlin, Germany in what was a massive group show of multiple eras of street art and graffiti. The show featured works from Shepard Fairey, JR, Banksy, Swoon, Crash, Cost, Retna, Invader, Kenny Scharf, Ron English, Lucy McLauchlan, Faile, Aiko, Faith47, Doze Green to some of the new generation of the scene like Fintan Magee, Jaz, Broken Fingaz, Hyuro, Know Hope, Low Bros, Saner, Borondo, Icy & Sot and more. The list could go on and on, but the show was jammed packed with a scene that, amazingly, continues to grow and grow with international recognition. And this growth is evident in the museum's Martha Cooper Library, with books, magazines, zines and other collectibles that have played a major role in the movement's expansion and grassroots appeal.

To kick off the opening, Juxtapoz and the artist Grotesk donated the "Juxtapoz Newsstand" to the museum as a piece of graffiti and street art history from the magazine that has been covering the scene for over two decades.

During opening week, we chatted with street art and graffiti legends Blek le Rat and Martha Cooper about the widespread impact that the culture has had around the world, and how they have seen this underground movement become an international phenomenon.
