Nuart Aberdeen 2018 Kicks Off It's Line-Up Announcement with Carrie Reichardt

February 01, 2018

One of the great institutions in street art is back in Aberdeen this year, as the Nuart Festival heads back to Scotland for year two of Nuart Aberdeen. As you know from reading Juxtapoz for the past 7 years, we have been visiting Nuart's homebase in Stavanger, Norway, but were excited to take part in the first Nuart Aberdeen in 2017. The organizers have begun to unveil the line-up for Aberdeen, and today announced that one of our favorite politica and community-activist based artists will be in Aberdeen, London-based Carrie Reichardt.

We were lucky to not only be on a panel with Carrie in Norway this past September, but got to hear her talk about her work and life practice, and she is one of the great figures of both Outsider Art and the original ethos of street art. As Nuart notes, "Reichardt's work blurs the boundaries between craft and activism, using the techniques of muralism, mosaic and screen-printing to create intricate and powerful artworks." She is a self-titled "craftivist," which is quite a perfect label for her and her work.
