The funny-face, fluffy-white kitty that sits elegantly in a classic floral arrangement is actually a reference to the Argentian president, Mauricio Macri. His changes in economic policy and attempts to reestablish relations with international investors resulted in a major economic recession that earned him the nickname 'Gato', or 'Cat', which, in prison lingo, means servant to the head of the prison yard. "The phrase, Gato Macri, or Macri the Cat, has already become part of everyday social life in Argentina and can be seen in graffiti, merchandising, and, of course, on the internet."
The viral images of Trump's worst hair day were actually taken during his travels to the 2018 G20 Buenos Aires summit, where he agreed with Chinese President Xi Jinping to end to the trade war. In a weird turn of events, it was the failure of this agreement, in combination with high geopolitical uncertainty and the departure of the United States from the climate agreement, that forced Argentina to turn to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the largest loan of its history - 57 billion dollars.––Sasha Bogojev
