Add Fuel was recently invited to the north of Portugal to participate in the Tons de Primavera festival in Viseu. During his stay the artist painted one of his signature pieces titled "Overplanha", mixing layers of custom designed and stenciled tiles patterns along with figurative work.
Working in the Dão region, one of the oldest established wine regions in Portugal, the mural is featuring a hand holding a grape cluster as a nod to the local tradition. Along with this element, the whole composition is the result of an exploration on how two distinct quadrilateral shapes can fill up the same space while incorporating the semi-human component. Minimizing the figurative part to the romantic act of simply "holding", Cascais-based artist created a nice blend of two familiar styles hes been working with. The additional tears between the layers add to the tension of the work, both hiding and revealing parts of the image and implying the existence of further narrative. —Sasha Bogojev
