Pejac to open a special Pop-Up show in Venice
Spanish artist Pejac recently announced a 2-day popup show in Venice, Italy from September 30—October 1, 2017. A Forest will be artist's first show since successful London solo back in July 2016, and will feature pieces from his most recent Redemption series.
Back in January, Pejac first introduced a new concept of graphite works on pressed wood panels. By cleverly re-purposing the common material, the Spanish artist created visual treats that utilized the medium's elements in a poetic, sometimes conceptual way. With a strong focus on social and environmental topics, these moving pieces are address issues of deforestation, pollution, alienation, climate change and drought, through effective mirage-like interventions done in graphite. Along with these peculiar works, the artist will be presenting a large showpiece drawing as well as sculptures and installations. Matching the work's atmosphere, the exhibition will be held at Squero di San Trovaso, an iconic place where traditional Venetian gondolas are still made by hand, using the old-fashioned process. —Sasha Bogojev
