Sleeping Hermaphrodite, Black Marble Sculpture by Barry X Ball

February 07, 2012

Looking through some morning art news and sites, we came across this incredible Sleeping Hermaphrodite sculpture by NY-based Barry X Ball, a 68-1/8 x 35-1/2 sculpture made of Belgian black marble. The way Ball captures the ruffle of the sheet and the cushion are quite stunning in our book.

Ball's work is in the collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Norton Museum of Art, The Maramotti Collection, Le Fonds régional d’art contemporain Bretagne, Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall, Museo Cantonale d'Arte, Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto, The Berlingieri Collection, The Olbricht Collection, and The Panza Collection. He will have a one-person show at Galerie Nathalie Obadia in Paris, March 17-May 16, 2012. (via)
