This month, Puerto Rican collective Poncili Creación brings their unique brand of performance art to HARPY Gallery in Rutherford, New Jersey.
Led by twin brothers Pablo and Efrain Del Hierro, the group took over HARPY Gallery for the opening night of their latest site-specific performance. We Have Done Some Shit And Here Is Some Of It begins in the main gallery, winds through the basement, and concludes in the adjacent venue space, guiding viewers through a surreal and confrontational experience. The two have decidedly 'gone their own way,' creating a new genre of political performance art that challenges and delights.
Also on view at the gallery are custom-made soft-foam puppets that morph and transform each scene of the performance. A bit whimsical, a touch gross, and undoubtedly punk, the show is emblematic of Poncili Creación's uncompromising artistic vision.
