We are no strangers to the amazingly bizarre and altered sculptural works of Japanese artist, Takahiro Komuro. His works played a major role in the Birth of the Mega Gallery that Superchief produced with the Juxtapoz Clubhouse in Miami back in February 2019. We are huge fans, and we're sad to see that we juuussstt missed his new solo show, Vortex, on view at the Ginza Tsutaya Books Atrium in Japan prior to us leaving last week.

Often life-sized, the works are a bit of a mind-bending spin on toy culture, sculpted from wood and original mixes on classic figures. As the artist noted to Hypebeast, "In ‘Vortex,’ creatures with an unusual scale from another world are appearing in front of us by using the media of sculpture. Energies of sculptures transcending the time and space are pulling us into the spectacle of different worlds."

The show is up through August 25, 2019.
