"I get excited about what I’m making during the materialization of ideas," Cody Hoyt told us in his magazine feature back in 2017. "I crave progress." Well, indeed, progress continues to be made in the art making (ceramics, mainly) of Cody Hoyt, who just opened a new solo show, Flat Earth, at Outside in North Adams, Massachusetts this past week. The new ceramic work will be on view through September 15th, 2018.
Cody says of Flat Earth,"The works in this show are artifacts of improvisation and abstraction based on traditional geometric structures of color and shape. Geometry is a way we can play at labeling fundamental constants in reality. Pattern is a way we can visualize the infinite. Folding pattern delineates the infinite and creates boundaries in physical space, while leaving it flat creates tension around the edges."
