Legion just opened a solo exhibition titled Fade, featuring the works of San Francisco-based ceramicist, Calvin Wong. The exhibition will showcase a new body of work with a variety of sculptures and functional wares that revolve around the theme.
Wong feels that we all adapt comfort zones in order to survive, and with that thought, we throw curiosity out the window. Fade will feature intricate works that examine the act of losing sensibility to the world. With a mixture of functional wares and sculptural work, he weaves between experimentation and combines thrown pottery with handbuilding. Having both figurative and environmental sculptures that tie in with the theme of the show, his playful style of work often lends itself to allegory. For this new body of work, the artist has made numerous sculptural works that are site-specific to Legion and over 80 functional pieces.
