William De Kooning was once quoted saying that any idea is good enough. Becoming a successful artist with a thought provoking body of work does not necessitate a politically radical output of visual media. What is important is to develop an immersive practice of poesy, enthusiasm, and intelligence. Malin Gabriella Nordin not only has developed an immersive practice but has chosen the strangely fascinating and banal topic of rocks. Rocks are beautiful, while simultaneously very everyday. She recreates rocks in many different mediums, collaging, sculpting, and more to arrive at a highly stylized approach to this very specific subject matter.
