On October 16th Balneario Gallery in Queretaro, Mexico, opened a first solo show by Francisco Diaz - Pastel. Titled "Lethal" the exhibition features a series of paintings inspired by lethal plants, photos of installation he made in Uruguay earlier this year and a in-situ installation based on the same concept.

Known for his large floral-based murals where plants are used as shapes for constructing pattern-like imagery, the artist presented some more minimalist works at this show. By mixing these natural forms against strict geometrical shapes, he is accenting their importance and uniqueness. Using limited color palette of pastel tones against the gold details, the paintings symbolize the way humans are affecting the natural environment. This is further accented by including ancient man-made arrows and weapons in his compositions. In similar context his installation consist of of moss and plant covered object with a series of primitive iron arrow heads hanging over it in almost threatening manner. —Sasha Bogojev
