adidas Skateboarding kicked off "The Showcase" this past Friday night in NYC, their first group art show of 2017 created by artists from the world of skateboarding and art.
As we noted this past week, adidas Skateboarding has expanded its creators event series The Showcase, making various stops around the world including Los Angeles, New York City, Tokyo, São Paulo and additional cities across Europe. The Showcase, which started in New York City 2016, is a community-driven group exhibition and cultural gathering designed to provide a creative platform to showcase works from rising artists and talent in skateboarding culture.
adidas Skateboarding has hosted several of these flourishing ‘art meets skate’ showcases in New York City over the past year while working with the local art and skate community. Making each city its muse, The Showcase is curated by the community and encompasses the best up-and-coming talents while offering a unique experience and authentic representation of the people and the city.
For the kick off to the 2017 programming, The Showcase featured a mixture of young and up-and-coming artists, from photography to painting to sculpture... even a few 3D works. Our contributor Joe Russo heading out to Manhattan this past Friday night to check out the new works... The artists featured this time around were Alex Fogt, Rick Sulz, Dylan Goldberger, Cole Giordano and many more.
