Maansi Jain’s series “say u m1ss m3” is a chronicle of youth.
From the name itself, which abbreviates and replaces numbers for letters just as is done in the world of messaging, to the commentary on the need for love through technology, Jain asks the viewer to remember what various memories hold which seemingly random connotations. Each image has a label, from “it goes on without you but it’s been better before” to “how could i not.” These captions are vague enough yet specific enough that the viewer can relate in a wistful and nostalgic sense.
