Similar to when a doctor becomes ill and must book his own check-up, when a photographer becomes the subject of a photograph, the exchanging and collaboration of ideas is far beyond usual. Two geniuses are always better than one, as is evident in the works comprising Picturing Artists, a permanent collection installation at the Parrish Art Museum.

Featuring works by household name photographers such as Annie Leibovitz, Nan Goldin, and Cindy Sherman, Picturing Artists captures both the personalities and creative processes of many talented subjects. Henri Cartier-Bresson’s photograph of Alberto Giacometti depicts the artist putting the finishing touches on an installation and moving around so rapidly that his body is blurry. Moments such as these – that show what it means to be an artist at heart and allow one’s art to infiltrate one’s life – are found throughout this exhibition. The exhibition began November 1st, 2015, and will run until October 30th, 2016.
