A new documentary from Italian director Andrea Cossu delves into the world of the master photographer’s often-overlooked color works. Shot mostly on commission for magazines between the late 1960s through to the early 1980s—from design and photography publications to Playboy—the saturated snaps capture an entirely different view of the vibrant Japanese metropolis.

For three days Nowness will be presenting their Photographers in Focus series, just in time to celebrate the Kyotographie International Photography Festival, coming up between April 23 and May 22, and The Photography Show in NYC, happening between April 14 and April 17.
